This study aims to find out the reality of economic diversification in Algeria, as well as the policies adopted to achieve it and get out of the unilateralism economy, Which has long been mortgaged the state's oil resources. In order to achieve the objectives of the study, the descriptive analytical method was used, by presenting the most important models for the economies of oil-producing countries that experienced economic diversification after oil was their only resource, and then stand on the most important strategies followed in Algeria in the diversification experience, with the calculation of the Hervendal-Hirschmann (H-H( index for the period) 2017-2020 (), based on two main variables, sectoral diversity, as well as export diversity, to know the level of diversification it reached during the same period. The study came to the conclusion that Algeria, despite the state's regulated and successive programs for the horizon of 2030 aimed at achieving diversification of its economy outside the hydrocarbon sector, but the reality refutes its ability to diversify its economy and maintain the dominance of the hydrocarbon sector.
