Main Article Content
Abstract
This paper offers an analysis of the characteristics of unemployed person from an angle rarely found in academic work in Algeria. This work presents a typology of youth unemployed thanks to a Multiple Correspondence Analysis (MCA) associated with an Ascending Hierarchical Classification (AHC). Our study is based on a sample of 870 unemployed from household surveys conducted in Algeria in three regions (Bejaia, Tizi-Ouzou and Tlemcen). The typology issued from the sample of unemployed reveals that youth unemployment is more urban mainly among women and the higher education graduates. Thus, this study highlights the prevalence of inequalities based on age, gender and human capital on the Algerian labour market.
